I think that the UK and US Patent offices have started to accelerate the green applications just because of the current situation regarding UN talks on sustainable development and unhindered technology transfer of environmentally sound technologies so that every country could use these latest technologies. The trick is that, who gets their green inventions patented first will get the prize by licensing these technologies to other countries who are too late to patent the applications filed to their own offices. I would say that all other countries must hurry up, otherwise they will lose the game.

It's nice that they have created this brilliant idea concerning the environmental benefits. Indeed an overwhelming realization, favorable for patent applicants. It's a big help.
